FAQS

Cost

Do private health funds cover costs?

Each health fund varies in cover and you’ll need to check with your insurer to confirm if they provide any subsidy for plant medicine.

Do we offer the compassionate access/use scheme or the PBS?

No – we don’t currently have a compassionate scheme.

Am I eligible for a Medicare rebate?

CDA Clinics are a private clinic. At the moment, Medicare rebates are not available.

How much are consultations?

Initial consults are $129

Follow-up consults are $59

Eligible patients may access concession discounts or consultation bundles.

As many plant therapies are unapproved therapeutic goods, medical practitioners are required to submit applications to the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) prior to prescribing. The consultation fee covers the doctor’s time for the consultation, submitting relevant applications, writing the prescription and sending it to the relevant pharmacy.

Do you offer a concession discount?

We offer 10% off initial and follow-up consults to eligible patients that hold a Commonwealth-issued:

  1. Veteran Card Holders (DVA)
  2. Pensioner Concession Card
  3. Commonwealth Seniors Health Card
  4. Health Care Card

Do you offer discount if I book my initial and follow-up consult together?

Yes, eligible patients that book an initial and follow-up consultation together, will receive $10 off. If you would like to learn more about your eligibility, please call our Patient Care Team on 1300 232 362.

How much will my script cost to fill?

In Australia, plant-based therapy patients can typically expect to spend anywhere from $100 to $500 per month on their products. The average patient spends $278 per month, which is around $1 to $15 per day.

The cost of plant therapy is not currently subsidised by the Commonwealth Government’s Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS). This means patients will need to fund the cost of treatment themselves. The amount paid will vary depending on the type of product prescribed and the dose recommended by the doctor.

How often am I required to consult with CDA Clinics?

CDA’s clinical monitoring program requires patients to be consulted by our practitioners every three months or as directed by your practitioner. This helps to ensure patients are managing their symptoms as per their personalised treatment plan, ensuring patient safety and maintaining a high quality of patient care. Please continue to see your doctor for your three month follow up to review and continue your treatment plan.

Do I need to prepay for my consultations?

Yes, as CDA Clinics is a private clinical service, prepayment is required to book any consultation, whether initial or follow up.

Our Patient Care team will be unable to book your consultations until prepayment has been made. Consultation prepayments are done at the time of booking. Booking and prepayment may only be done once the appropriate documentation has been received and reviewed and accepted as accurate.

As your first follow-up consultation would usually occur approximately six weeks after the initial consultation, we recommend booking and prepaying for both appointments at the time of booking the initial consultation, however this is at your discretion.
